Storefront Overview
The new DPD Storefront system allows vendors to sell multiple products on a single order using an affiliate-enabled hosted shopping cart. The DPD Storefront system currently supports PayPal with other processors in development.
What is the Storefront System?
DPD Storefronts are cart instances attached to your account. DPD allows you to create multiple storefronts so that you can sell groups of products on seperate websites with each website having its own customizations.
For example, lets say you sell pictures of cats on your LOLCatzPicz.com website, and tasty recipies on your CookingRockz.com website. With the DPD Storefront system you can create a storefront for LOLCatzPicz.com with a cute cat logo and company name to match that website. You can then clone that storefront and change the logo and name to match your CookingRockz.com website, giving you two individual "carts" to match your two individual websites.
When creating storefront products you have the option of selecting which storefront you want the "Add to Cart" (ATC) button to put your product in. This allows you to sell all your funny cat pictures at LOLCatzPicz.com with the correct logo and contact information for that site while selling your recipies at CookingRockz.com without any mention of funny felines.
Ok, how do I use it?
While it may appear complicated, its actually pretty easy. Lets take it step by step:
Step 1: Set Your PayPal Business Address in your Profile
Go to your Profile and set your PayPal Business email. This is the payment address where all cart transactions deposit money. You also now have the option of setting a PayPal Micropayments account. If you have one of these, enter it here.
You can not use the storefront system until this PayPal address is set (hince the big red error message on the dasboard if it's empty). Once you enter your PayPal Business email and save your profile the storefront system will be activated for your account and the buttons will be available on your dashboard.
Step 2: Set Storefront Options
From the Dashboard, click on the big "Manage / Modify Your Storefronts" button. This will take you to the storefront list, where you can customize your default storefront or clone it to new individual storefronts.
To set up your default storefront click on the Storefront Options button.
Now you set your storefront options. The options are all self explanitory, really. Enter your contact information, set your selling preferences, and upload your logo if you have one. If you do not have a logo your store name will be displayed on your cart and during PayPal checkout. As always, instructions are right there by the fields if you get lost.
Once you set your storefront options your storefront is set up and ready to go!
Step 3: Create Storefront Products
Now you need to create some storefront products. From the dashboard, click on the new "Create Storefront Product" button to begin. The process to create storefront products is almost exactly the same as creating old standalone products, but with less options. This is because some options related to the sale and download security that are more order-based have been moved to the Storefront setup.
Alternately, you can copy standalone products in to new storefront products. To do this, click on the "Manage Standalone Products" button in the dashboard, find the product you want to copy to a storefront product in the list, and click on the "Create Storefront Product" link beside that product. The product, including its uploaded file, will be copied in to a new storefront product.
Once your storefront products are created, its time to generate some buttons!
Step 4: Make Add to Cart and Checkout Buttons
Visit the Storefont list by clicking on the "Manage / Modify Storefronts" button on the Dashboard as before.
To create a view cart / checkout button to place on your website, click on the "Checkout Buttons" button under the storefront you want to generate the button for. Pick your button graphic, grab the code, and place it on your website in an easy to find location.
To create add to cart buttons for each product you want to sell through this storefront, first select the product in the dropdown under "Get Add to Cart Buttons for This Storefront" and then click the "Get Add to Cart Button" link. Select the button graphic you would like to use and copy/paste the code to your website product listing.
Step 5: Test!
On your website, click on an add to cart button and make sure it goes in to the correct customized storefront. Return to your site and click the view cart button to make sure it opens the storefront that you added the product to. If all works well you're good to go!
What about my old "Buy it Now" Products?
Previously DPD vendors only had the option to create "Buy it Now" buttons for instant checkout with a single product. These simple "Buy it Now" products are now referred to as Standalone Products in the DPD system. Standalone products, which include a mix of PayPal, Clickbank, 2CO, and other processor methods can not be used with the Storefront system.
Nothing has changed in how Standalone products work- they are located under the "Manage / Modify Standalone Products" link on the new DPD Dashboard.
We understand this is a huge update to the DPD system and we are working to provide documentation as needed. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to submit a support ticket from the DPD Dashboard and we'll work with you 1-on-1 to get your issues resolved!
Thanks for using DPD!
